Question: A Case Study of Camilla and Marc Retailers. Answer: 1. Introduction This particular study illustrates the impact of employer branding in attraction and retention of talent. The recent trend of employer branding has been investigated and explained in this study in the context of retailers based in Australia. 1.1 Research background The concept of employer branding is mainly reliant on the basis of brands which can be described as symbol, name, term or even combination of several things which focus to detect the products and services offered by an organization and metamorphose them from other competitors. Nonetheless, in accordance to the marketing literature, an organization is greatly impacted by the brand and the external stakeholders are identified by the firm. The employers and employees can associate with each other based on the brand image which is crucial for any organization. Employer branding can be categorized as the advantages of the functional, psychic and socio-economic advantages resulting from employing organization (Ahmad and Daud, 2016). Employer branding permits firms to compete in an efficient manner in the context of human resources and hence, hike up the employee loyalty by effective engagement, retention and attraction policies. 1.2 Problem Statement In recent times, there are some massive changes have been took place in retail sectors of Australia and organizations are required to have skilled as well as talented workforce in order to survive in the era of globalization and innovative technology. Recently, greater rates of turnover are being seen in the Australian sector. As a result, there is an increased cost acquisition of desired workforce and huge loss is being observed in valuable knowledge. The retail sector is now facing serious problems in managing the employer branding as well as in the recruitment and retention of the workforce. Furthermore, it has also been observed that the demands of the youth generation are far greater than the aging population. Therefore, it is essential for firms to meet the needs of the younger workforce by building as well as maintaining sustainable strategies for employer branding which can ensure that talent is successfully recruited and retained(Dash and Mohapatra, 2016). 1.3 Research aim The research aim is: Investigate the impact of employer branding particularly in attraction and retention of talent in Australian retail sectors by undertaking the case of Camilla and Marc limited. 1.4 Research objectives The key objectives of the study are: To evaluate the strategy of employer branding in Camilla and Marc retailers. To discover the impact of employer branding in the attraction as well as retention of skilled talent. To analyze the challenges faced by the case company for attracting and retaining workforce. To provide recommendations for the total intensification of the strategies of employer branding. 1.5 Research questions What are the key strategies employed by the management of Camilla and Marc? How does employer branding influence the recruitment and retention of skilled workforce? What are the major challenges faced by the company for recruiting and retaining talent? 1.6 Hypothesis H1 = employer branding plays an important and positive part in the attraction and retention of employees. Ho = no influence is laid by EB 1.7 Variables Dependent variable: Employer branding Independent variable: Attraction, employee engagement, employee loyalty, satisfaction, motivation, balance involving work and life and work environment. 1.8 Expected results It has been expected that the results will assist in realizing the aspects which influence EB on attracting and retaining the workforce in Australian retail sector. Through the results the top management can design effectual strategies in order for increasing the EB effectiveness. 2. Literature Review 2.1 Employer branding The concepts of employer branding have become highly famous since the last few years because of the shifting of the pattern of the atmosphere of business. Skilled staff should be retained during high turnovers since it has a crucial effect on interruptions of service, information loss and cost to the customers (Ewerlin and S, 2016). It is expected of the organizations having low turnover that they would be more profitable since the morale of their employees are improved in the long run. It is evident from the various market researchers that the organization have less turnover and this can be improved by retaining the skilled employees within the organization. Enterprises should design as well as execute several management tools in order to retain the staff to improve the quality of employment. 2.2 Benefits of employer branding According to Faldetta, (2016) the key benefits of employees are associated with accession of talent, retention, and performance and employee engagement. The benefit of talent acquisition is that a firm is enabled to recruit human capital. A strong EB strategy can assist in the advertising of opportunities as well as conveyance of exemplary brand message which would provide support to the company so that it can reach the zenith in talent and the talent would also select the company. The figure above demonstrates the positive effect of deliberate as well as well-planned approach for the deployment of effective EB strategies which assist the work force to internalize the values of the organization, assist in the retention of employees along with offering a competitive edge specifically in an economy that is knowledge based and thus, the productivity is increased(Fernandez-Lores et al., 2016). Some fundamental criteria should be met in order to achieve competitive advantage. Employer branding is similar to product branding and corporate branding. The attractiveness as well as the precision of the brands is portrayed through this. Therefore, to be an effectual employer brand, the organization should be noticeably resonant, distinguishable and relevant as compared to its rivals. A psychological contract is formed between the employers and employees through EB. The staff is greatly engaged and loyal towards the firm through the achievement of psychosomatic contract(Gambrill, 1990). 2.3 Impact of EB on attracting and retaining talent As entailed by Ibidunni et al., (2016) a business is fortified by EB in order to compete efficiently and effectively as well as motivate the staffs by implementing appropriate strategies for attention and retention. The employer branding concept should not only be applied in the process of recruitment but also cover the broader views of management of personnel in firms such as reward and performance management. Employer brand equity assists in the propulsion of talented people for the application of a job. 2.4 Conceptual framework Conceptual framework aims to indicate the relationship between several factors. The conceptual framework that has been developed that illustrates the impact of EB on attraction, satisfaction, and retention as well as employer brand advocacy as they are one of the most significant factors helps in increasing the overall profitability (kithae and Keino, 2016). 3. Research Methodology 3.1 Research design Research design aims for the effectual production of information which is required to solve the problem statement within the provided resources. The 3 classes are developed based on the problem framework are descriptive structure, exploratory structure and explanatory structure. This study employs the exploratory structure to assure that the research is cohesive and effective. 3.2 Research philosophy According to the Saunderss research onion model, research philosophy is relied on epistemological and methodological concepts that are under consideration while executing the research study. The research philosophy employed in this regard is the interpretivism approach since it is ensconced with relevant objectives and the questions for the research. It is based on qualitative research approach. Realities are better understood with the help of interpretivism. It is also regarded as anti-positivism in compare with positivism of natural science(Kucherov and Zamulin, 2016). 3.3 Research approach An inductive research approach is used here to determine if EB plays a role in the attraction and retention of workforce. The inductive approach is flexible and is the best approach to use in case of qualitative research. Inductive approach follows a logical path which assists in the development of thinking and observation. 3.4 Research strategies The primary research strategies employed in this study are survey, action, study and archival research. This case study has been selected because it effectively evaluates the impact of EB on employee attraction and retention. Comprehensive contextual analysis forms the basis of the study. 3.5 Methods for data collection There are two types of data collection methods, namely, primary and secondary data. Secondary data is basically data collected from previous researches while primary data is a collection of recent information. They can be either quantitative or qualitative. Primary data is generally obtained from interviews, survey, observations and other methods. Secondary data can be gathered from previous research papers, books and websites. Primary qualitative data will be obtained from the employees of Camilla and marc in this study(Schwab, 2006). In this report both primary as well as secondary data have been used. Primary data is used to accurate address the targeting issues whereas secondary data will be useful in realizing the research problem better. Interviews Interview is an essential component of qualitative research approach. Interviews are conducted to cover the meaning as well as the factual levels which are helpful in order to understand the experiences of the respondents. It is also an effective tool to gather information about the topic in question. This research proposal conducts semi-structured interview with the Camilla and Marc management in order to verify their perspective(Kucherov and Zamulin, 2016). The key benefit procured from interview is that speech can be easily corrected, relationship is built and appropriate candidate can be selected along with accumulating recent information. Other benefits bestowed include procuring adequate data, lesser expenses, high flexibility and increased amount of information gathered. Nonetheless, it is not free of drawbacks such as bias by interviewer and greater time required for Analyzation of data obtained. 3.6 Sampling Sample is regarded as the sub-unit of a population which is categorized into sampling tools which are probable and non-probable. Random methods of selection are used as methods of probability and non-probability methods are based on the judgment of the researcher (Kucherov and Samokish, 2016). Numerous non-probable methods are available such as quota, snowball and purposive along with many others. Purposive is also referred to as judgmental sampling tool has been selected by the author. The interview will be taken of five managers of Camilla and Marc retailer who belong to various departments. The semi-structured questionnaire will be prepared and disturbed among them. 3.7 Data analysis tools Analyzing the data is a crucial part of any research and this research applies a thematic analysis on the accumulated data which has been procured from the respondents. Extraction of the essence of interview is done along with the emergence of specific themes. Furthermore, a comparison will be made between the literature review and the data from interview. 3.8 Research limitations The key limitation in this case is that only a single company has been selected for case study. In addition to this, the report has been prepared in a limited amount of time along with limited word limits. Some other limitations are lesser experience of research and time constraints. 4. Responsibility and its Civic Importnace in America free essay sample
To most people today, responsibility is something we experience almost every day; from the mundane of picking up trash to the extraordinary of stitching communities back together. Iââ¬â¢m not saying that we take responsibility for granted. Instead, I am saying that to most Americans, responsibility is a concept that is as strange as it is fascinating. But itââ¬â¢s in fact a trait that has followed us throughout our remarkable history. To Americans, Washington is known as the Father of America. This title derives its roots from the amazing courage and inextinguishable flame of liberty that seemed incarnate within him. Washington first led a battle in 1754 during the French-Indian War as an LtCol. 21 years later, when fighting broke out during the American Revolution, Congress created the Continental Army. The very next day they appointed Washington as Commander-in-Chief. The reason: there was no competition to rival his experience and courage in battle. We will write a custom essay sample on Responsibility and its Civic Importnace in America or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page However, Washington accepted the offer reluctantly. The position he was offered was incredible in that it gave him immense power. But it was coupled with tremendous responsibility because not only was he accountable for the lives of his men, but also for the safety of his country. Washington knew this, but he still took the position because his love for liberty and freedom was greater than the snags the position would throw at him. I believe that another reason he took the job was because he believed the thirteen colonies had to take responsibility for their shortcomings and repel the British rule that seemed to loom over them like a ravenous vulture. In the end, Washingtonââ¬â¢s leadership prevailed and the British were defeated. Washingtonââ¬â¢s responsibility was tremendous in the sense that he orchestrated the removal of British rule from America and did it not for monetary gains or personal fame, but instead for his love and devotion too liberty, freedom, his country, and on top, for the plain truth that we all seem to recognize; you need to take responsibility for your actions and conditions. A not so recognized truth is if you are oppressed, the oppressor is not responsible, therefore you need to take that responsibility out of their hands and shoulder it for the common good. Coupling his military story, Washington also presided over the Constitutional Convention which forged the Constitution of the United States. The purpose of the Constitution was to create a federal government that could run a nation properly. It lists step-by-step the way this government was to be formed and operated. But within these instructions is a system called checks-and-balances. Itââ¬â¢s a system that gives each branch of government the power to check the other branches if they misuse their power. It is this system that embodies responsibility. Each branch is given the responsibility coupled with the power to deter abuse of power. They should not stand idly by as another branch manipulates the constitution for their own whimsical wishes at the expense of the common citizen. In todayââ¬â¢s world, there are an infinite number of chances to exercise ones responsibility. It ranges from the effortless of walking instead of driving to the transcendent of orchestrating a global effort to scale back the melting of glaciers. Concerning me, I can execute my responsibility in many ways like planting trees to compensate for the ravaging of rain forests. We cannot always aspire to be world wide reformers; we have to add the concept of reality. But we can nurture ideas that mature into physical actions which benefit the whole of society. I canââ¬â¢t hope to get healthcare to children in Somalia when Americans in my neighborhood are suffering. Iââ¬â¢m not trying to discourage big ideas; Iââ¬â¢m only saying that you have to be realistic. The higher your aspirations are, the harder your fall will be. In closing, I would like to add that civic values, like responsibility, are the actions that keep the world moving in a positive direction. If these values were to be absent from the human nature, you would have a malicious, self-seeking, uncaring person who looks out for number one and number one only. So the next time you see a homeless person on the street, donââ¬â¢t ponder on how they got there as you walk away. Instead, contemplate on how you would feel if you were that person and people just waked by as you hand the destitute a twenty.

Jazz Singer Movie - The First Talkie
Jazz Singer Movie - The First Talkie When The Jazz Singer, starring Al Jolson,à was released as a feature-length movie on October 6, 1927, it was the first movie that included dialogue and music on the filmstrip itself. Adding Sounds to Film Before The Jazz Singer, there were silent films. Despite their name, these films were not silent for they were accompanied by music. Often, these films were accompanied by a live orchestra in the theater and from as early as 1900, films were often synchronized with musical scores that were played on amplified record players. The technology advanced in the 1920s when Bell Laboratories developed a way to allow an audio track to be placed on the film itself. This technology, called Vitaphone, was first used as a musical track in a film titled Don Juan in 1926. Although Don Juan had music and sound effects, there were no spoken words in the film. Actors Talking on Film When Sam Warner of the Warner Brothers planned The Jazz Singer, he anticipated that the film would use silent periods to tell the story and the Vitaphone technology would be used for the singing of music, just as the new technology had been used in Don Juan. However, during the filming of The Jazz Singer, superstar of the time Al Jolson ad-libbed dialogue in two different scenes and Warner liked the end result. Thus, when The Jazz Singer was released on October 6, 1927,à it became the first feature-length film (89 minutes long) to include dialogue on the filmstrip itself. The Jazz Singer made way for the future of talkies, which is what movies with audio soundtracks were called. So What Did Al Jolson Actually Say? The first words Jolson recites are: ââ¬Å"Wait a minute! Wait a minute! You ainââ¬â¢t heard nothinââ¬â¢ yet!â⬠Jolson spoke 60 words in one scene and 294 words in another The rest of the film is silent, with words written on black, title cards just like in silent movies. The only sound (besides the few words by Jolson) are the songs. The Storyline of the Jazz Singer The Jazz Singer is a movie about Jakie Rabinowitz, the son of a Jewish cantor who wants to be a jazz singer but is pressured by his father to use his God-given voice to sing as a cantor. With five generations of Rabinowitz men as cantors, Jakies father (played by Warner Oland) is adamant that Jakie has no choice in the matter. Jakie, however, has other plans. After being caught singing raggy time songs at a beer garden, Cantor Rabinowitz gives Jakie a belt whipping. Thats the last straw for Jakie; he runs away from home. After setting off on his own, adult Jakie (played by Al Jolson) works hard to become a success in the field of jazz. He meets a girl, Mary Dale (played by May McAvoy), and she helps him improve his act. As Jakie, now known as Jack Robin, becomes increasingly successful, he continues to crave the support and love of his family. His mother (played by Eugenie Besserer) supports him, but his father is disgusted that his son wants to be a jazz singer. The climax of the movie revolves around a dilemma. Jakie must choose between starring in a Broadway show or returning to his deathly ill father and singing Kol Nidre at the synagogue. Both occur on the very same night. As Jakie says in the film (on a title card), Its a choice between giving up the biggest chance of my life and breaking my mothers heart. This dilemma resonated with audiences for the 1920s were full of such decisions. With the older generation holding tight to tradition, the newer generation was rebelling, becoming flappers, listening to jazz, and dancing the Charleston. Ultimately, Jakie couldnt break his mothers heart and so he sang Kol Nidre that night. The Broadway show was canceled. There is a happy ending though we see Jakie starring in his own show just a few months later. Al Jolsons Blackfaceà In the first of two scenes where Jakie is struggling with his choice, we see Al Jolson applying black makeup all over his face (except for near his lips) and then covering his hair with a wig. Although unacceptable today, the concept of blackface was popular at the time. The movie ends with Jolson again in blackface, singing My Mammy.

Analytical essay on debate and conflict between federalists and anti
Analytical on debate and conflict between federalists and anti federalists - Essay Example Those opposed to the constitution, the Anti-Federalists which included John Hancock, Patrick Henry and Samuel Adams, also wrote a series of arguments now known as the Anti-Federalist papers. They feared the potential powers of centralized federal government dominating the will of the states. The Federalists gave assurances that this was not their intention; that they were not trying to create a tyrannical governing system much like the one in Britain which the colonies had just fought a war to escape. This is how the Bill of Rights was formed. It was a compromise forged between the two conflicting viewpoints. The terms describing these differing opinions is somewhat misleading. Federalists are better defined as Nationalists because they supported a powerful federal government. The Anti-Federalists could be more accurately described as federalists because they preferred the government be a federation of autonomous states. This discussion examines the perspective of both Federalists an d Anti-Federalists, how they reached a compromise after two years of heated debate and the reasons why one was ultimately the better choice. The Federalist Papers conveyed the shortcomings of the loosely confederated union between the states that existed at the time and the benefits of unifying the states into an effective central government. The Federalists, being wealthy land and business owners, believed that a strong centralized federal government operated by learned, influential persons would encourage commerce which was to their own and the countryââ¬â¢s benefit. In the second of the Federalist Papers, John Jay enumerated this motive first over all other reasons to unite the states by enacting a constitution. ââ¬Å"It has until lately been a received and uncontradicted opinion that the prosperity of the people of America depended on their continuing firmly united, and the wishes, prayers, and efforts of our best and wisest citizens have been constantly

Theatre art research project Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Theatre art research project - Essay Example A movie review on the film was written by Bosley Crowther entitled ââ¬Å"The African Queen (1951)â⬠and published online in The New York Times. This review is to be compared with one which was written by Roger Ebert entitled ââ¬Å"African Queen Still Reignsâ⬠and published in the Chicago Sun-Times. First of all, the time frame for the reviews were significantly different: Crowther apparently writing the review a day after the movie had been shown; while Ebertââ¬â¢s review was written in 1968, 16 years after its first showing. The results of the reviews were likewise understandably antithetical. While Crowther openly criticized the film with adjectives such as: incongruous, well-designed spoof, absurd, preposterous, anomalous, socially-bizarre, and even droll, among others; Ebert had contended that the movie was actually ââ¬Å"an almost perfect illustration of how much a really good movie can please. Things happen on the screen that makes you happy. You get involvedâ⬠(Ebert par. 8). He must have gathered previous reviews on the film since it was first shown and the time element could have afforded him with the opportunity to balance criticisms and comments from diverse sources. Secondly, the perspectives and points of views assumed to be taken by these film critics could rationalize the disparity in their perceptions. Crowther could have detached himself too much and seemed to follow a checklist for all the elements that allegedly fall out of line. On the other hand, Ebert assumed the stance of an audience, a traditional movie-goer, who immersed himself with the unified effect of the elements of the film and wrote the review after synthesizing and balancing its overall appeal to the audience. Despite the disparities, these movie critics shared similarities in terms of indicating the apparent appeal and popularity that could have been generated by the
